Why is it that we care so much about what other people think?
Why is it so hard to not care?
This is something I struggle with. Sure, I have my moments where I say to myself, "Why do their opinions matter?" but that only lasts for a minute. I wish that moment could last forever because I have to realize that opinions that do not belong to me
DO NOT matter. The only one that matters is our own!
With social media, I think it's worse because we seek validation. Our self worth is based on likes and comments. When our friends have more likes on a photo than we do, it's disappointing because, of course, we are worthy of having those same amount of likes, if not more. So, why aren't we getting the same attention? No matter if you have 0 likes or a million likes, you're still the same person. You're still YOU. Try not to let it get to you. Easier said than done, but the least you can do is try.
I find myself posting things online and I'll think that it will make me look weird or that people will be annoyed of me, but at the end of the day, I'm just being authentically me. I shouldn't have to hide who I am to please others.
Take my advice:
-If you want to post pictures of yourself online because you feel good, do it.
- If you want to post a silly video or picture of you and your friends, but fear judgement, do it.
Sure, people are going to make their remarks or think negatively, but that's
on them, not you.
